Gulfstream Business Bank presents Habitat for Humanity of Martin County $60,000 check for Women Build

Stuart, Florida---On Saturday, January 24, 2009, Habitat for Humanity of Martin County received a donation from Gulfstream Business Bank for $60,000 to be used for the Women Build home in Indiantown.   Not only does Gulfstream Business Bank support Habitat for Humanity financially, their employees provide hundreds of  hours of volunteer labor.

Janet Rosado, a single mother of three young children is this year’s Women Build family and will live across the street from last year’s recipient Patricia Malone.  Janet is a six year employee with the Martin County Library system.  She also attends Indian River State College and volunteers for the YMCA in Indiantown.

Women Build is currently building and looking for area women volunteers for on-site construction and financial support.  “The hardworking and enterprising women in Martin County are invited to participate and we will train and engage you.“ said Ebonie Reid, Director of Volunteer Programs.   Thousands of houses have been built by women crews around the world – by the end of 2008, more than 1,400 homes since Women Build’s official creation in 1998. Each year, hundreds more homes are added as  donors and sponsors discover the impact of women volunteers and their resources.

Habitat for Humanity of Martin County is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization that extends the opportunity to purchase simple, decent, affordable homes to local families who would not otherwise have that chance. Three key resources are necessary in order to make homeownership a reality for Habitat partner families:  funds, volunteers and advocacy.
