EARTH DAY 2008

WHAT:

Shadowood Farm is a seasonal native nursery and garden center located in Palm City, Florida owned by Bob and Sarah Fenton.  For over 23 years, they have been hard at work growing fabulous flora and fauna--focusing on plants and trees native to the State of Florida as well as unusual varieties that attract butterflies, bees and other wildlife.  All plants at Shadowood are grown in a pesticide free environment.  According avid environmentalist co-owner Sarah Fenton, “Habitat for Humanity is an organization that we have always felt wonderful about because it empowers such a wide variety of people—from the volunteers, to the actual homeowners and then back to the community at large.  It’s only fitting that a couple of “tree huggers” like us should install the landscaping for the Women Build Project on Earth Day!”    In addition to donating their expertise and labor for this project, Shadowood Farm brought together a consortium of vendors to donate mulch, temporary irrigation supplies and a donor to cover the water bill for the first three months that the plants will require irrigation.
