Mr. Stud Finder Charity Auction to benefit 2015 ‘Women Build’

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Habitat for Humanity of Martin County’s most entertaining event of the year is right around the corner and it stars the philanthropic ‘studs’ of the Treasure Coast.

Prestigious businessmen and esteemed professionals will donate their time and talent at the Mr. Stud Finder Charity Auction to benefit Habitat's 2015 ‘Women Build’ program. The event is Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. at an elegant new venue, Mariner Sands Country Club, 6500 S.E. Mariner Sands Drive in Stuart. Guests will enjoy cocktails, heavy hors d’ oeuvres, and the main event: a live auction at 7 p.m. Proceeds will help build a home for the Perez Family in the Carter Park community of Indiantown.

“The Women Build committee has orchestrated this one-of-a-kind auction featuring unique items donated by some of the Treasure Coast’s finest and most charitable gentlemen,” said Margot Graff, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Martin County. “I’m always touched to see so many familiar faces participating in this auction, and to welcome a few new faces to the lineup. We’re also thrilled to host our largest event of the year at the beautiful Mariner Sands Country Club.”

It’s NOT a bachelor auction – it’s better – because everyone can participate and bid. The Mr. Stud Finder Charity Auction features a lively group of gentlemen, nominated by their peers and selected to present a valuable item or package for bid, valued from $500 to $5,000. Items include firefighter or sheriff for a day packages, a private cruise for up to 30 guests aboard the Schooner Lily, a flight for two in the Goodyear Blimp, gourmet chef-prepared meals, private sports lessons, and much more.

Auctioneer Drew Pittman will serve as master of ceremonies, introducing Habitat’s illustrious list of “Stud Finders.” The 2015 lineup includes Martin County Firefighters Neil Amerson, Max Sprauer, Matt Liner, Mike Diapoules, and Jim Diapoules; Stephen Leighton from the Martin County Sheriff’s Department; tennis pro Cullen de Windt of Piper’s Landing Yacht and Country Club; Chef Adam Fatigate of Chef’s Table; Peter Jones of StarStruck Academy and Theatre; Chef Taylor Wilson of The Gafford; Fred Newhart, captain of the Schooner Lily and Treasure Coast Sailing Adventures; Michael Flaugh, landscape architect; Jason Franklin of Cove Garden Landscaping; photographer Mitch Kloorfain; Chef Jimmy Cunningham of Harvest Table; Shannon Andersen of Keller Williams Realty; and musician Gregg Jackson.

Special recognition goes to Drew Pittman Auctions, Cardita Formal Wear, Nis Air, Mary Resnick, Goodyear, Twisted Tuna, and Philip DeBerard Injury Attorney for sponsoring this event.

Tickets are $100 per person and include admission to the auction, cocktail reception and heavy hors d’ oeuvres. Click here to purchase tickets, or call 772-223-9940.

About Women Build
The 2015 Habitat for Humanity of Martin County Women Build home will be built for the Perez Family in the new community of Carter Park in Indiantown. The family is already contributing to Habitat’s sweat equity requirement of 300 volunteer hours. They will purchase the home with a no-profit loan and their monthly mortgage payments will be used to build more Habitat homes.

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women and girls to have fun and make a difference by building homes and communities. Women crews around the world have built thousands of homes since Women Build’s official creation in 1998. Each year, more homes are added as affiliates, donors and sponsors discover the impact of women volunteers and their resources.
