Volunteer of the Month

Raymond Schug, Volunteer of the Month, January 2012

Raymond SchugRaymond Schug has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity of Martin County for about four years. He read about Habitat in the paper and decided to visit the facility. He has been a volunteer ever since, completing more than 700 construction hours.

Ray and his wife are from New York and raised their family of five there. They later moved to New Jersey for seven years. They currently reside in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Ray joined the Marine Corps and served for three years. He worked for the U.S. Customs for 11 years; the Bulova Corporation - running their clock division for 12 years; president of Linden Clock Company, where he worked for 14 years; and later retired from NAFT, an electronic consumer product company.

He and his wife travel to Florida to visit their daughter in Palm City. During their stay, Ray is building an addition onto his daughter’s house.

He is a humble man. When he was announced as volunteer of the month he said, "I really appreciate the honor you are giving me, but you have a lot better volunteers than me.”

Habitat for Humanity of Martin County certainly appreciates Ray!
